Durante la preparación del romprehielo - During preparation of the icebreaker

Estoy preparando mi primer discurso en el Club Sagrada Familia de los Toastmaster, para refinar mis habilidades para hablar en público. Al primer discurso lo llaman rompehielo, o mejor dicho, icebreaker, porque es un club bilingue y los Toastmasters tienen su origen en EEUU. Pues, pensando en el icebreaker, me iba veniendo la imagen de la flota de rompehielos en el puerto de mi ciudad natal. Tanto fue así que al final me fui a buscar esa imagen en los libros que tengo de Geesthacht y en internet. La imagen en mi cabeza no la encontré en ningun otro lugar, pero encontré algunas en internet. Sobre todo me enteré de que, entre tanto, la flota ha aumentado a nueve barcos rompehielo. Adjunto una foto de la última incorporación. Se llama Keiler, que es un jabalí macho. Todos tienen nombre de animales fuertes como búfalo, bisonte, etc. La parte baja de la proa es bien redondeada para que pueda deslizarse suavemente sobre el hielo y romperlo con su peso. Me encanta la imagen. Espero que mi discurso será así: bien redondeado en la parte baja de la proa para que pueda deslizarse suavemente sobre el hielo y romperlo con su peso.

I am preparing my first speech at the Sagrada Familia Toastmaster Club to refine my public speaking skills. They call the first speech the icebreaker. Well, thinking about the icebreaker I kept having this image in my head of the fleet of icebreakers in the harbor of my hometown. It was so much so that I set out to see if I could find that image somewhere in a book or internet. I didn't find the picture I had in my head, but I found some others. Above all, I found out that meanwhile, the fleet has increased to include 9 icebreakers. The photo is of the most recent incoporation in 2011. Her name is Keiler, that is a wild boar. They all have names of strong animals, Bufalo, Bisont and such. The lower part of the prow is well rounded so that it can slide smoothly onto the ice and break it with its weight. I love the image.
